Baseball/Softball 24-7

As you can tell in the photo below, baseball and softball season starts in Sunbury when the leaves are barely visible on the trees.  We did have some exceptionally warm days early in the season, though.  Colin played on the 10u travel team this past season, with Danny as the head coach.  Cadence played on the 7th Grade Middle School team for Big Walnut.

We had to divide and conquer one weekend in mid-April.  The boys went to Alexandria for a tournament...

While Cadence and I went to Smith Park in Delaware.

Cadence played outfield and 1st base

The 7th Grade girls came out on top!

And were awarded some nice hardware!

The 8th grade team won as well!  It was an exciting weekend for Big Walnut Middle School Softball 😁

Daniel-San is 40!

Danny requested that we not make a big fuss over his 40th birthday - I get it, I did the same.  However, I couldn't let the big day pass without making a little noise.  I woke up early (good thing Danny is a heavy sleeper) to put up a few decorations in the kitchen.  I reached out to his friends a week in advance and asked them to call/send an email or text/stop by to help celebrate.  I think one of his buddies blew my cover, but it was fun nonetheless, and it was nice to see his friends show up for his birthday.   I worked from home and the kids didn't have school (Monday after Easter), so we had brunch at Northstar Cafe and brought cookies home to have that night (instead of cake).  It was a fun, quiet day of celebrating our favorite guy.

Easter 2023

Easter was spent, per usual, with the micro family!  The kids started off the morning with an egg hunt...

...then checking out the goodies in the Easter baskets...

She really wanted that name necklace

and he liked his books

Uncle Mike stopped by with Gina and Cadence did some skating with her uncle

The weather was beautiful!

We enjoyed dying eggs outside again this year 😊

Cadence took some crazy .5 pics of everyone 😜

It was a great Easter Sunday!

April

April brought us the start to the LAX season, travel for Danny (which means more silly pictures of the kids), and 7th grade middle school softball.

The first day of lacrosse games this season were very cold!  Colin did really well.  I got some neat videos of some nice passes and goals - especially with Colin passing back and forth with Adrian.

Enjoy the April photos we sent of the kids to Danny...

We were proud of Cadence for making the 7th grade middle school softball team.  She gave it her best and won a spot on the coveted team.  If I remember correctly, there were 22 girls that tried out and 13 made the team.  Not all of the 7th graders on her travel team made it, so it was tough!

On days that Cadence had games after school, she would bring her softball bag - that combined with her lunch and/or her clarinet and book bag meant a lot of stuff to lug around!

The first game of the season was an away game in Dublin vs Eversole Run Middle School.  The Eagles pulled out a W.  Cadence is learning how to deal with earning her playing time - it's been an adjustment with school sports!  She struggled a bit, but says she wants to try out for the 8th grade team next season.

The girls all had funny paint/eye black on their faces.

I stopped by Alum Creek Lake on the way home to snap this pretty sunset pic.
