Maybe Fall's Okay...Just Maybe

The first weekend in November we enjoyed picturesque fall weather - cool and crisp air, but sunny, so it was perfect.  Before we enjoyed a walk down the street, I snapped this picture of the kids snuggling on the couch.  Ever since Colin was a baby, Cadence would play with his ears (if he let her).  And for whatever reason, she prefers his ears to be cold.  She'll even mess with her own ears if she's tired or nervous about something.  Hey, we all have our quirks, right?

Halloween 2018

The kids couldn't wait to carve pumpkins this year.  Surprisingly, they carved a lot of them all by themselves!  Cadence wanted to carve a bat and Colin picked a skull.  They did a great job!

I wore gloves to clean the pumpkins out this year - my hands usually end up red and itchy if I don't!

At the beginning of the school year, I signed up to volunteer to help at Colin's class "Harvest" party - I had already helped out with a bunch of class parties for Cadence, so now it was Colin's turn.  It was a lot of fun interacting with Colin and his classmates.

Unbeknownst to me, Cadence's class party was right after Colin's (I had thought that they would overlap), so I was able to help out in Cadence's class as well!  She was surprised to see me.

I didn't get too many pictures since I was helping out, but both classes also played some Halloween themed games.  It's great watching the kids have so much fun with people they're with all day, every day!

This year for Trick-or-Treat, we had a skeleton and Dorothy - they were so stinkin' cute!

Our friends invited us to their house for dinner and Trick-or-Treat in their neighborhood.  We always have such a good time with them!

SO.MUCH.CANDY.  I'm not sure about Colin, but Cadence grouped her candy into groups of 10 and counted about 220 pieces.  I'm guessing Colin had around that as well.  Luckily the elementary school collected candy to donate to the troops (Treats for Troops)!  The kids were super generous in giving up the candy they had worked so hard for.  It was awesome seeing them throw it into the bag to donate!  Such a good idea.

School Fall Festival

Shortly after Colin's field trip to Lehner's Pumpkin Farm, the kids' school had their annual Fall Festival.  They have a lot for the kids to do, and Cadence's cardboard creation was on display, so we had to go!

and there were lots of fall-themed crafts!

Cadence and another classmate made a cardboard creation in STEM class that was a game where you had to throw a pom-pom through a doorway to score points.  She was proud of the finished product.

I couldn't get the video to upload correctly, but Colin and a bunch of kids (mainly older boys) were playing a game of GaGa ball.  Have you ever heard of it?  It's all the rage at the elementary schools around here.

My mom got this picture of Cadence on the same day before the kids went to school - I guess her hair had fallen down from when I helped her fix it.  She even put on eye shadow that morning.  She thought she was hot stuff.  When did she go from 4 to 14???
