End of July 2023

Here's what we had going on toward the end of July!

Cadence's 12u travel softball team held its end of the year party at a neighborhood pool.  It was bittersweet - Cadence enjoyed the company of several of the girls on the team, but a lot of the girls were leaving Big Walnut in search of a new team, so it was a little awkward at times.  They had fun swimming and eating pizza and sweets.  On to the next season!

We had a crazy storm roll through overnight!  I sent this picture to mom and dad. Luckily everything was okay (including the pretty new hibiscus they gifted us)!

That weekend we also had Cadence's last softball tournament of the season.  The girls won 3 of their 4 games.  They should be proud of how well they came together as a team this season.  They were fun to watch!

Some photos we sent to Danny while he was in LA will wrap up this post!

Boston Fries Work Trip

While the kids were with my parents, I had to go to Boston to cover for a co-worker who had a death in the family.  We were conducting a taste-test for fries and a client was supposed to be on-site.  Flights out there were a mess and the client never arrived (my flight was cancelled and Danny helped me re-schedule a way to get out there).  Kelsey only had a few months of experience under her belt, so the 2 of us went out to Boston for a couple of days!

Here's our POV from the viewing room behind the one-way glass.

Testing was done pretty early in the afternoon so we headed downtown and checked out
Quincy Market!

And had dinner at this Italian place with fresh pasta - so delish!  I had the eggplant parmesan and pasta.

Kelsey found out that we weren't far from Harvard so we took a quick trip to campus!

All-in-all, the trip turned out to be a nice one!

Clay's Park Resort

This summer, mom and dad took Cadence and Colin to Clay's Park Resort (now Jellystone) for 4 days.  The park is a little over an hour and a half away and has lots to do!  Check out what they did!

I've been told that Olive LOVES the golf cart

 (and so do the kids)

They have an arcade!

Pops took them fishing; I don't think they caught anything 😶

Mini-Golf!

Colin even made a buddy at the water park area!

The kids are so lucky to be able to hang out with their grandparents in their RV every summer!  They had a great time!

Summer Happenings

Ahhhh, July.  The sweet spot of summer.  Read on to see what we were up to this summer.

Mom invited Jackie and the kids over to swim.  She snapped a cute picture of Cadence and Jonah.  They were born less than a couple of months apart.  When they were little, Cadence would call Jonah her boyfriend.  My mom said it was cute watching them interact with each other.

This particular night, I think Mom took Colin to his last Little League game in Grove City while I hung with Cadence at her away game in Hilliard.

We got a new couch!

Danny was in LA and Seattle for work that week - the kids and I took a night swim after work and we had dinner outside.

They got along really well that night.

Colin finally got to have his pool "birthday" party - we invited a few of his closest buds over for a swim and sleepover.  I didn't really call it his belated birthday party to his friends' parents, but that's basically what it was.  Even though it was gray outside and kind of drizzly, the boys were in the pool for hours while we hung out under the big umbrellas.

Cadence got some cool, underwater photos.

We had hot dogs and mac & cheese for dinner.

And ice cream sundaes for dessert!

It was a fun night!
