Here We Go, 2019!

The New Year brings college football bowl games and Scarlet's birthday!  Even though Ohio State didn't make it to the national championship, they at least got to play in a decent bowl game.  Mom and Dad came over to watch the game.  It was a fun game to watch!

While in the kitchen, I snapped a picture of our Buckeye Candle with the game on in the background.

Scarlet turned 12 this year!  We celebrated by giving her some new dog treats with peanut butter on top.

And then peanut butter on her nose!  It's mean to Scarlet, but the kids think it's hysterical.

Colin likes to work out with us on the weekends

Danny sent me some pictures of the kids while waiting for the bus one morning.

He also sent me a picture of the kids playing nice in the playroom one day - Cadence made a bird!

The 3rd graders that mastered multiplication, division, and their own goals with facts made an appearance on the school news on 1/11/19

Game Day Ready!

Watching Colin play and Cadence cheer had me grinning from ear-to-ear the whole morning.  I was amazed at how quickly they picked things up.  They did so well and put in a great effort!

Danny's been an awesome assistant coach!  He's had to fill in for the coach for one night at practice and also at last week's game.   Colin loves having his dad coach.

One of Colin's rewards on his behavior chart was getting to eat a s'more.  I made an indoor s'more...and he made a mess!

We finally got enough snow to be able to go sledding.  Danny had to go into the office one Sunday morning; here's Colin waiting for him to get home.  He was ready!

At Colin's basketball game, Danny heard parents talking about how the high school has a pretty decent sledding hill.  We had to check it out for ourselves!

While sledding, we slid into this little family of snowmen that someone had made!

Attempting to build a snowman, but the snow just wouldn't stick!
Snow angels instead...

That Awesome Week Between Christmas & New Year's

I think most would agree that the week between Christmas and New Year's is pure bliss.  The kids are out of school, there aren't any crazy deadlines, there is time off from work (or at least a less-stressful work week), yummy leftover food and cookies... the list goes on.  Our week was pretty busy, but it was all fun stuff!
Colin lost his very first tooth while Danny's family was visiting.  I'm pretty sure Papaw and Great- Grandpa gave him more money than the Tooth Fairy!

So excited!

The next morning...

Poppa got a sweet pool table/air hockey table for all of his years of service with Trugreen.  We had a lot of fun playing on it!

That weekend, Cadence had her first cheer practice...

and Colin had his first basketball practice.

Colin was already being a leader.

They both had a lot of fun and learned so much at their first practice!  While Colin was at his practice with Danny, Cadence and I played with the science kit she got for Christmas.  It was cool watching the chemical reactions.

We finally converted Colin's toddler bed to a full-size bed.  He never complained about the smaller bed, but he was just about too big for it.  He loves his new bed.

It was warm enough one day to take a walk down the street with Scarlet.  The cows were out on the property nearby and they followed us as we walked down the street!  They came right up to the gate and one was practically licking Scarlet's head!

Colin got lots of LEGOs for Christmas

On New Year's Eve, we played Pictionary...

and Googly Eyes!

We had a great night!  The grown ups stayed up to ring in the New Year, but the kids went to bed around 10:30.  I think they would've lasted until midnight, but I had serious doubts that they would sleep in the next day.  Oh, and no post is complete without a Scarlet picture - here she is sporting her new collar from Santa. 😀
