Wintertime Fun and a Bunch of Firsts

Around Christmas, we got a lot of snow.  I stayed home with Cadence the day after Christmas and as soon as Danny got home, we went outside to play!  Cadence hadn't played outside in the snow since her first Winter.  It was pretty cold that day, so I was surprised at how well she did.

The snow wasn't great, but we were able to manage a mini snowman.

Warming up in her new sleeping bag

Enjoying some food and dress up

Super-psyched about taking a nap in her big-girl bed for the first time

She took a little longer to fall asleep, but did really well!  She's such an easy kid!

Earlier this month, we took Cadence to Cookie Cutters for her first haircut.  Even though the sides of her hair are still pretty short, the ends were getting really uneven and unhealthy looking.  We could've probably cut her hair ourselves, but we kind of wanted to make a big deal out of her first haircut.  She watched Curious George, sat in an airplane, got a lollipop and a balloon, got cupcake scented hairspray, and the hairdresser even braided her hair!  Cadence cooperated really well and eventually warmed up to her hairdresser.

Cadence is into acting and different facial expressions.  I got her to model some during bathtime.
Here's, "Are you kidding me?"

They had pajama day at school.  She picked out her favorite pajamas and brought a stuffed animal as well.

The pregnancy is still going well.  I feel a few more aches and pains than I remember with Cadence.  I started feeling the baby moving the week before Christmas.  The kicking is even stronger now.  I notice the movements mostly in the morning while driving to work and in the evening after dinner.  It's always fun to try to imagine what the baby is doing. We went to the doctor a couple days after Christmas.  Everything was progressing nicely and the heartbeat was 147 bpm.  Our most recent appointment was last Tuesday and the heartbeat was 153 bpm.  I'm now 23 weeks along...17 more to go!  Cadence has gone from saying she's going to have a brother, so saying she's going to have a sister.  Only time will tell!

Christmas 2012

Yup, it's been a while...I'm sorry!  It seems like it was one thing after another keeping me from updating the blog.  The holidays are always hectic and work was crazy too.  Everyday after work, it's dinner, and bath time, and then all I wanted to do was veg!  With this pregnancy, I still feel great, overall, but boy, is it different!  I'm not sure if it is because I'm a few years older or the fact that we have a toddler that we have to take care of, but I'm wiped out!  Christmas was awesome this year and Peanut was a ton of fun!  It was nice spending time with family and Cadence got a ton of great gifts!

 Static!

At the beginning of December, Cadence had her Christmas Program at school.  Cadence's class was the youngest class involved, so they were the first to "perform."  It was too cute.  After they all got set and ready, one of Cadence's classmates called out to her mommy.  Cadence then yelled out "Grandma, Poppa!"  I think she thought they left when Danny and I took her to the room where her classroom was gathering.  It was really sweet and everyone started laughing.  In a way, I kind of felt badly for the little kiddos.   It would be scary sitting up on stage at 2 years old with spotlights!  They sang a song that is supposed to go "Mary had a little boy and Jesus was his name-o...J-E-S-U-S" to the tune of B-I-N-G-O.  Most of the kids didn't keep up, but it was precious!  Cadence is wearing a red skirt, cream sweater, and a red bow in her hair.  She's sitting in the back row.  At the end she even grabs the mic!  We asked her what she was going to say and she told us, "Thank you, thank you!"

I had Cadence re-enact her reaction to me putting up the Christmas tree.

 Cadence's first Ginger Bread house!

There were gumballs in the kit...her first time eating gum!  Surprisingly, she did well not swallowing it.

A couple days before Christmas, we went down to Hamilton to spend time with Danny's family.  We were able to celebrate Gracie's 4th birthday as well as an early Christmas.  The girls hadn't seen Santa yet, so we went to Bass Pro Shop.

Cadence actually sat on Santa's lap!  We were amazed!

I think she was influenced by Jesse on Toy Story 2.  This girl likes horses!

 And Doc McStuffins!

Oh, and she is fascinated by Gracie's hair!

Cadence must've been a good girl last year!

 First look at the jackpot.

She also has a new interest in Thomas the Train.  We think it's because a classmate brings one to school.

She couldn't believe that Santa ate some cookies.  And didn't understand why the reindeer didn't eat all the carrots!

 Nemo!

 Cinderella!

 Ants in the Pants!

Guitar from my boss and his wife...I think they got us a loud toy on purpose :)

Auntie Darlene sent a cute hat/scarf.

 Frosty the Snowman book

Had to include one of Mike in one of the shirts we got him.  It was too perfect to pass up.  It says, "I pooped today!"

 Her very own jewelry box.

Reading Horton with Marisa and Mike.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped make this past holiday season a great one.  I'll post some more pictures soon.  There are a lot of firsts for Cadence to include!  She's getting so big!
