Apple Picking Fun

We were fortunate to have beautiful weather on my birthday, so per my request, we headed back to Legend Hills Apple Orchard to snag some apples.  Even though we normally just try to get a good mix of apples to make a huge batch of homemade applesauce, Danny found some Honeycrisp that hadn't been picked yet!  Cadence said they tasted like apple cider so she even brought some apples in her lunches at school (normally my kids won't eat the apples we pick), so I was surprised!

We couldn't find an apple bin while we were picking, so we made do with this one behind the market for our annual picture!

3rd Annual Eagle Nation Home Run Derby

The 3rd Annual Eagle Nation Home Run Derby was smaller in size this year and consisted of a few baseball teams.  The boys still had fun with their derby song requests and rooting each other on (and trying to out-do one another).  Colin received flat donations from the usual suspects (THANK YOU!!) and we stuck around the Big Walnut Elementary fields until dark.  Cadence volunteered her time during the entire derby and helped with the concession stand.

He had been practicing switch-hitting with Danny and decided to give it a try during the derby!

David Shaw's Big River Get Down 2023

The weekend after our Pittsburgh trip, after Cadence's cross country invitational in Pickerington, we headed down to Hamilton for David Shaw's Big River Get Down!

We went with Rhonda and Vince and saw a few of Danny's childhood friends!  The weather was perfect - we really lucked out.  In years past, we were told it always rains!

Even though it was chilly, late, and Cadence twisted her ankle, the kids were troopers and we had a good time.  I hope our schedule allows for us to go next year!

Pittsburgh Trip

Danny had a great idea to take a family trip to Pittsburgh to check out the city and take in a Pirates/Yankees game in September.  Check out the fun we had!

It was totally overrated, but we grabbed lunch at Primanti Bros.

Afterward, we took a stroll around the city.

We got to the stadium way before the start of the game, so we did some exploring.

And watched the Yankees warm up.

Colin got chummy with the ball girl and ball boy to try to get a foul ball.

SUCCESS!!

She WOULD NOT take a normal selfie with me.

The next morning we grabbed breakfast at The Nook (it was soooo good) and walked around an area called Lower Lawrenceville.  It reminded us of Short North a bit.

Next up, we rode the Duquesne Incline (yup, and in my head, I still pronounce it: Doo-kezz-nee)

It was pretty neat and we had fun learning about how it operated.

Check out the view: Pittsburgh and its 3 rivers!

It took us FOREVER to figure out how to get to this fountain.  You can see the incline going up the hillside in the background.
One of my favorite things to do it explore new cities as a family.  This one checked all the boxes!

OuR sIlLy KiDs!

Enjoy all the funny kid pics that I had from late in the summer!

She was not in the mood for a picture for Danny while he traveled - so I created a TON of memes 😂
