The day has finally arrived when Colin would start kindergarten. I know a lot of moms who are "weepy" when their baby hits this milestone, but not this mama. I'll admit my eyes got a bit misty during the whole first day extravaganza, but I was just so proud! I always look forward to what there is to come. We're six weeks into kindergarten (yup, behind on the posts as usual) and I am so impressed with what he's already learned. He's like a little sponge - soaking up everything! We're still working on adjusting to "big kid" school and learning what's appropriate behavior, but I have faith that he'll get there soon. Also, having both kids in one school again helps simplify our life! They're on the same schedule, at the same place. It makes our life a little easier. I'm excited to see what the rest of this year has in store for Colin and the rest of our family.
First day shenanigans began with the traditional chalkboard photos
Waiting for the bus together!
The school invites parents to be there when the kids gather at the front of the school with their teachers to take pictures - we took a lot! Here's my favorite that Danny got. We followed the bus and met him at school. Good thing, too - during the whole commotion of getting on the bus for the first time, I forgot to hand him his lunch box!
Just look at his cute, little face in the middle of it all!
His teacher sent a picture of the class in the middle of the day. It's nice to be able to "check-in"!
As I mentioned before, Colin's already learned so much in school. He's working on sounding out words and figuring out the number of syllables in words. He'll recite the little rhymes they learn in class to remember how to write certain letters and numbers. It's so cute. He's also posted pictures and videos of his work using an app and an iPad. We also have the app on our phones. I love getting the updates throughout the school day.
Let's not forget about our Peanut! She's doing a great job in school as well. I think this year is challenging her a little more than she's used to. She's shed a few tears saying she didn't want to go to school because it's not fun like it used to be. I haven't gotten to the bottom of it (whether it's the friends in her class or the material that they're learning in school), but she'll be okay. There's just something different about this year and she's not quite as excited on a daily basis to go to school. Glimpses of those "tweenage" years are appearing.
During a shopping trip to Target, we found a Bee Keeper Barbie! We just had to show that to Grandma and Poppa!
Both of our kids love Scarlet so much.
Here are a few pictures from Colin's first baseball game - he's loving baseball so much. And he's doing a great job! At the games, the coach will pitch 5 balls - if they don't get a hit, they'll bring out the tee to hit off of. There are no strikes, no balls, nothin' - this is just to learn the fundamentals. The boys take turns fielding different positions as well. It's a lot of fun to watch. Colin always tries his hardest and does really well paying attention to the game.
"Put me in, coach!" 🎝♪
