Yay for Spring!

Since the seasons have changed, I figured I needed to update the blog!  The end of winter kept us pretty busy with Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Easter!

I thought I'd start out with a bunch of pictures that we have of Cadence...

Here she is ready for Pirate Day at school!

Both kiddos were sick back in February.  Poor thing -- you can see it in her eyes!  She was feeling a little better at this point and was trying to do some homework!

Here's a pic we sent to Uncle Mike during another homework session.  She's such a goof!

They had a lot of activities planned for the 100th day of school!  She was supposed to wear a shirt with a number on it.  She was bummed that it wasn't "girly" or "pretty" enough, so we paired it with a skirt!

Read Across America Week kicked off with Red, White, and Blue Day!

Dress up like your Favorite Book Character Day -- she was Horton the Elephant from
Horton Hears a Who!

Remember all of those "horsie" pics of Cadence from the carousel horse that daycare had in the cafeteria?  I got a pic of Colin one day at pick-up "riding" the horse.  They've since removed the horses because some of them weren't in great shape and they repainted the cafeteria.  At least I have one pic of Colin doing what his sister HAD to do EVERY DAY in pre-school.

Daycare also had a family Valentine's Party with crafts, snacks, dancing, and a photo booth!  The kids had a good time.

Valentine's Day at the Schuerman household started off with heart-shaped pancakes, heart-shaped strawberries, and pink milk!

Cadence looks like a "foodie" taking pics of her food for her food blog!

Just chillin', watchin' some TV

We had our friends over for dinner one night -- the kids took a quick timeout from playing to eat some dinner.  I love that they all enjoy each other's company as much as the grown-ups do!

We checked out the Stratford Ecological Center (Educational Farm and Nature Preserve) in February.  Each year, toward the end of winter, they have maple sugar tours -- we decided to check it out this year!  The kids were much more into the farm animals, specifically the barn cats, than the maple syrup, but we all had a great time!

They have chickens...

...and sheep.  This baby was born early that morning and was less than 12 hours old!  Can you see the little brown lamb?  It kind of blends in with the straw!  The mama was super protective.

And there were goats!  Baaaaah!

Here's one of the cats that they wouldn't leave alone...

Feeding the pigs!

They also have cows, but I didn't get any pictures of them!

Here's Colin taking a break during the tour -- the guys let him sit on the 4-wheeler.  He loved it.  Yup, not sure why the truck's in his mouth!

He LOVED walking on the muddy path!  Cadence, not so much.

The kids were able to feed the chickens!

The snow never looks as pretty as it does in person, but here's a shot I took on the way into work one morning near the creek.

In March, we met our friends up at Chuck E. Cheese for the evening.  Boy, was it packed in there!  The kids had a lot of fun!  Leaving was a little difficult (Colin wanted a lot of the "prizes"), but we made it!

Chuck E. Cheese is in the same city that had a huge St. Patrick's Day parade earlier in the day, so every restaurant around was packed!  We really wanted pizza and found this hole-in-the-wall pizza place, Bridge Street Pizza.  Bridge Street Pizza
It was sooo good!  They had to push their only tables together for us, and pull a few chairs from the break room so we could all sit, but it was a great night!  They even let the kids watch Disney on their TV and they let us bring in some beer from the carryout down the street!

The kids love each other

We had a visitor in the wee hours of the morning on St. Patrick's Day, Lucky the Leprechaun!  Colin thought the green "tinkle" in the toilet was a riot and Cadence was actually a little freaked out by the thought of a leprechaun in our house!

Every Grandma Friday, we're lucky to receive pics from my mom throughout the day.  Enjoy some of the recent ones I've received!

The night before Easter, we dyed Easter Eggs with my parents.  The kids had a good time and did a great job!

Little Bunnies

She is a nut!

The kids were stoked about checking out the goodies from the Easter Bunny on Easter morning.

The race was on to see who could find the most eggs!

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day on Easter.  We spent the day outside with the kids and went on a nice, long walk.  We pigged out on brunch and had cheesecake for dessert!

Danny and I split up Spring Break with the kids.  Since Cadence was out of school the entire week after Easter, we kept Colin out of daycare as well.  Danny stayed home Monday - Wednesday, and I stayed home Thursday and Friday.

Do you remember when everyone was "planking"? Here are the kids "perching". They make me so nervous!

Danny sent me this pic while I was at work; pretty sure he titled it, "Tent City".

The dads and the kids met up for lunch at Donato's pizza buffet and got to check out the firetruck and ambulance in the parking lot!

We also got together at Super Games!  Cadence and Colin didn't have as much fun as their friends...I don't think they're quite ready for the obstacle course bounce houses.  They were too afraid to play on them!  They did like the air hockey and little bounce house, though!  Thanks again for the free tickets, Marinelli Family!

At the end of the week, my mom and I took the kids to the Franklin Park Conservatory.  We mainly wanted to see the new butterflies released, but they had so much to do!  Colin still asks to go back to see the butterflies!
