October has Come and Gone...

Every fall we try to stick to the same traditions -- we have fun doing them all!  Unfortunately, this year we didn't all get to go to the Circleville Pumpkin Show.  We typically go on Saturday, which is the last day for the show each year.  This year we had a lot going on, so we decided to skip it.  Fortunately though, my parents were able to take Colin down there to check out the gigantic pumpkins on Friday.  I don't think he ate anything pumpkin, but I think he still had lots of fun!

The weather this fall has been pretty mild.  Last year on November 17th, we had about 4 inches of snow!  This year it was in the 60s!  A storm came through yesterday, so chillier temperatures are on the way!  I'm looking forward to the holidays and can't wait for dinner on Thanksgiving!  Cadence has done a few Thanksgiving related assignments at school and she has already created her wish list for Santa.  Colin just goes with the flow.

Cadence is doing extremely well in kindergarten.  We had a conference with her teacher right before Halloween.  She can recognize all of the "sight" words, and then some.  She is doing great when it comes to sounding out new words.  She is still a social butterfly and has gotten into trouble a few times at school for talking when she's not supposed to.  There are only 10 girls in her class -- they all get along for the most part, but from what I hear, they can get awfully clique-y.  Surprisingly, she doesn't talk about the boys much!  She still likes girly clothes and wishes she could wear a dress every day.  She likes to wear her hair down vs. up any way.  She is also into crafty stuff.  She likes to make things out of construction paper -- masks, hats, etc.  She's great at coloring and "staying in the lines"!

Colin is talking even more than before and is always trying to make us laugh.  He is still super sweet, but has many meltdowns as well.  He does the cutest thing now, where he brushes my hair with his hand and says, "Beautiful", but it sounds more like, "Bootiful" when he says it.  He is also still OBSESSED with trucks.  He loves them -- construction trucks, semi trucks, fire trucks, monster trucks...all. of. them.   He is also a little dictator when it comes to music in the car.  He gets very upset if a song other than what he has requested is playing.  Right now his current faves are "Where are U Now" by Skrillex and Diplo (with Justin Bieber singing) and Ex's and Oh's by Elle King.  He can listen to either of those songs over and over and over...  He loves watching sports with Danny and any football team is "the Buckeyes" and any basketball game is "James" (a.k.a. LeBron James).  Danny has taught him well!  Colin is very independent these days.  He likes to help get himself strapped into his carseat, feed the dog, get his shoes on, and he has to be the one to shut the door on the way out in the morning.  He's used the potty successfully about a handful of times -- we're making progress!  He gets so excited!

We finally made a bunch of applesauce from all of the apples we picked.  The kids did a great job helping out and weren't too grossed out when I almost cut my finger off!

Cadence is participating in gymnastics for a 10 week session. She is always trying to do cartwheels at home, so I thought she'd like to get a little more direction and help with that kind of stuff!  She's doing great and really enjoys it.  I think it's building her confidence too -- you should see her face when she does something really well.  When the end of the session rolls around, we'll have to see if she wants to sign up for the winter session.

Our good friends, The Marinellis, are moving to Iowa at the beginning of 2016.  We all got together a few weeks ago and had a great time.  We're really going to miss them!

The kids had fun helping carve the pumpkins this year.  They were both still grossed out by all the seeds inside!

They've started laying natural gas lines around where we live.  They finally made it down our street and the kids (Colin especially) had to check out the trucks!  The guy working that day said they could hop on!

Being silly again

Cadence had a few days off from school around Halloween for conferences.  Danny and I took turns staying home with Cadence.  She was a good girl and kept herself busy making things while we had to work from home.

On the evening that I stayed home, we tried to make a Halloween treat/craft that I saw in a magazine.  I think they turned out cute...and they were delicious!

When I came home from work that Friday, I found the kids outside jumping in the leaves with Danny!  They had such a good time!

We spent Halloween in Hamilton this year.  The kids had a blast with their cousins and we had a nice time visiting with everyone.  We also got to see some friends as well.

Both of the kids fell asleep during the drive down.

Here's Vanna White and Doogie Howser!  We watch Wheel of Fortune several nights a week and Cadence is always fascinated by Vanna's dresses, so she was all about being Vanna White.  One day Colin had my mom's old stethoscope around his neck and Danny called him Doogie -- so we decided that's what he would be!

All the cousins in their awesome costumes!

Danny was Pat Sajak and I was a nurse

Cadence is already thinking about what she wants to be for Halloween next year!
