Fall Happenings

We've had a lot of fun over the past few weeks at the Schuerman household.  Cadence is doing well in kindergarten.  From what she has repeated at home, she is a "chit-chatter" and is making a lot of new friends.  I think she misses her friends from daycare from time to time, but she's doing great!  We even attended a classmate's birthday party the other week.  It was a lot of fun to watch her interact with her new friends.  She is recognizing a lot of new words when we read books together and she is always asking how to spell words.  She's even learning about syllables already!  She spends some time each day in the after school program until my mom can pick her up for us.  She has made some friends with the older girls.  It's cute to see what she learns from them -- she comes home with new magic tricks and jokes.  She even had me making those paper fortune teller things...remember these???  I found an example online:

Colin is doing well also.  He's talking a lot more and he's becoming easier to understand.  He's also having far less melt downs now that he can express himself better.  Dropping him off at daycare has become easier as well.  Danny usually waits for the bus with Cadence and I get to drop Colin off at daycare.  At first it was really rough and he wouldn't want me to leave.  Now, his teachers have learned that he's obsessed with trucks and cars, so they'll get those out for him to play with and he's like, "Peace out, Mom!"  He's also starting to call some of the kids by name, so I think he's at the age where he's making friends!  I hope he looks forward to going to "school" (as we call it) just like his big sis.

Colin was really sick with the croup a few weeks ago.  He stayed home with us for an entire week!  Danny stayed home from work a couple of days and I did as well.  The poor little guy was so pitiful!  We had never experienced it before with Cadence.  Sometimes he would cough so hard and get no where.  He was so hoarse too!  It totally wiped him out; he would try to sit up for a little to watch TV and he would just lay back down.  Luckily he was better within a week.

Here's a pic Danny got of Cadence at Oakland Nursery...Colin stayed home with momma that day.

We tried our hardest to keep him hydrated!

Poor babe

He was feeling a little better on this day...

By the end of the week he was feeling much better!  Here are the "cheese monsters" watching me make pizza for dinner.

The following week Cadence didn't have school due to Fair Day (yeah, kids in Delaware county get a day off to go to the fair...crazy, right?).  I was fortunate enough to be able to take the day off from work.

The week prior, I called the Genoa Township fire department (one of the local fire departments) to ask them if it would be okay if we stopped by for a tour.  They were super friendly and said they didn't have anything scheduled, so we were all set!

They showed the kids the trucks and the equipment...

...let them on one of the trucks...

...and gave them cute firefighter hats!

While we were there, they were testing out the ladder on the ladder truck to make sure it was working properly.  They were fascinated by how high it could reach!  We had fun at the station and gave the guys some Tim Bits doughnut holes as a "thanks"!  For a few days after that on the way to school, Colin thought we were going to see the firetrucks again...boy was he bummed.

There is a really nice park right around the corner so we played there for a couple of hours...

...and enjoyed a picnic lunch!

Notice how Cadence is always posing and Colin's like, "I'm just trying to eat my lunch, Mom!"

I love the trail in the summer time.  It's like a canopy of trees!

They both wanted me to push them as "high as the sky!"

Later that day, while Colin napped, I caught Cadence in the office being creative.  It was so cute.  She's into a new phase where she loves to color, paint, draw, create things...and I love it!

I recruited Colin to help me wash the car when he woke up from his nap.  I should rephrase that -- I washed the car while Colin rinsed.

It was such a gorgeous day outside and we had a ton of fun...I wish we had more days just like it!

That weekend we also had breakfast at Cracker Barrel before we all went to the 2015 Parade of Homes.  This year the homes were built 5 minutes from our home so we didn't want to miss it!  Here are some cute photos we got while we waited for breakfast.

Mom sent me a couple cute pictures on a recent "Grandma Friday"

A couple of weekends ago, we went to Lehner's Pumpkin Farm to celebrate our friends' son's 3rd birthday.  We had a blast!  We can't wait to go back next year!

I think one of the kids at daycare found Colin's after school snack and ate it during the day.  To replace it, Colin picked out a Rice Krispies treat (don't judge) at the snack area at daycare.  It's the first time he's had one; he ate it all up!  He looks so big to me in this picture!

Mom couldn't watch Colin all day last Friday, but she was able to pick him up around lunch time.  She sent me some cute pics during their lunch "date".

We celebrated my birthday at mom and dad's house last weekend and watched the Buckeyes play.  We busted out some of the old games while we were there.  Cadence was a big fan of the mini corn hole game!

Last Sunday we decided to try a different orchard to pick apples this year.  It's called Legend Hills Orchard in Utica/Johnstown.  We had a great time!  It was a lot less crowded and we could pick whichever apples we wanted (other orchards dictate what can be picked when).  The weather was awesome as well!  Next we'll have to make some homemade applesauce!

They had a cute market with a bunch of goodies!

Photobomb!

He said, "I did it!"

OBSESSED with anything that has wheels and an engine

Bring it on fall!
