Schuerman Stay-cation 2.0

Cadence's last day of pre-school was August 13th.  Kindergarten at her new school did not start until August 20th.  We had a few days where Cadence didn't have anywhere to go!  Danny and I decided to take the week off from work (although it did require some working from home) to hang out with the kiddos before Cadence was off to big kid school!  We had a great time and we couldn't have asked for better weather.  It was a much needed break from work, as well as some much needed quality time with the kids.  I wish we could do it more often!

Monday of vacation, we made sure to hit the pool!

We played a lot in the back yard...and even found a big, brown toad!

That night we headed downtown to attend the kids' first Columbus Clippers game.  We had a lot of fun!

The lawn seats were great!  I'm pretty sure Cadence ate most of that box of popcorn all by herself!

Goof Ball

Don't worry, he didn't have her in a chokehold

I thought if we took a selfie, he'd let me take his picture...ha!

Cadence thought she was so cool running down to the field in between innings while the players warmed-up!

Colin got a little antsy into the 4th inning or so, so we were off to find some entertaining activities!  He was addicted to this Wiffle-ball game!

Look at that follow-through!

The next day was another pool day with lunch outside on the deck.  Colin is obsessed with the iPad now.  He'd watch YouTube videos of kids testing out toys and animated nursery rhyme videos non-stop if you'd let him!

Danny's parents came into town for the day as well!  We had a great time in the pool and lots of fun on the swing set!

Mamaw and Papaw even brought some of Danny's old Tonka trucks for Colin.  He loves them!

Stay-cation day 3, just goofing around in between pool time

And the big day arrives!  Cadence was excited for Kindergarten!  She was nervous about a new school and new kids, but after the meet and greet, she warmed up to the idea of going to school.  She was looking forward to riding on the bus.

Yup, that's Mr. Photobomb himself!

The bus driver is super nice; she got to our stop early just so we could take pictures!

First one on!

Ahh, that little face!  Yes, I got misty-eyed!  She was such a big girl!

We followed the bus to school since we had the day off from work.  Cadence's teacher said her class would meet at the front of the school and we could take more pictures then.

Cadence had already made a new buddy on the bus ride.  They were holding hands as they waited for the rest of their class.

I LOVE this picture

So sweet!  Her teacher is the brunette at the right of the picture...she's great!  The principal even got a video of the kids on her iPad!

During the first day, her teacher sent us this picture with the kids giving a thumbs up!

While Cadence was at school, we went for a walk with Colin and Scarlet.  The kids love stopping at the creek and looking for fish!

There are usually horses along the way as well

We finally got to wash the cars that weekend since we had a good stretch of weather without any rain.  The kids like to take turns with the hose.  Sometimes they fight over it...

We even let Scarlet take a swim!

She was worn out that night!

I'm hoping the kids stay best buds...

My mom sent us some cute pictures recently during "Grandma Friday"

Every once in a while, Blake will come in conversation with Cadence.  She is really attached to him.  Since we live 20 minutes away from the daycare they both used to go to, they inevitably go to different elementary schools.  The last time we met him and his mom and sister at the park, we mentioned we'd let the kids Facetime sometime.  A couple of weeks ago, Cadence asked if she could Facetime Blake.  The next day, I sent a text to Blake's mom to see when they'd be available.  Cadence got to Facetime him that night.  You should've seen the look on her face when I told her she could talk to him that night.  It was the sweetest thing to watch her talk to him (and to listen to the conversation).

Mom snapped this cute photo of Cadence during a Kroger trip.  She had to send it to me since we have a picture of Colin in the same ride! Colin Pic
