July 4th and Summer Fun

This 4th of July, Cadence hung out with her friend, Macie, and her family while we rooted for Colin at his little league game.  The girls checked out the parade and the happenings on the Square and sent this cute pic:

We hung out at the pool that day and drove the lent golf cart to the fireworks that night.  Both kids had friends spend the night afterward.  We woke up the next morning to find that our A/C wasn't working.  It was so hot out the following week -- good thing we have a pool! (and parents next door that let us sleep there and take showers if we wanted)

The Marinellis came over for a pool day a couple days later.  Always a blast with them.

Joe took turns throwing the football to the kids as they jumped into the pool.  I don't think Cadence wanted to participate, but I got some cool action shots of 3/4 kids.

Since my parents were traveling to Rhode Island for a couple of weeks, my mom taught Colin how to cut their grass.  He did a really good job!

I got the crazy idea to paint our outdoor bench.  I SERIOUSLY underestimated how much work it was going to take to prep it for painting it a new color.  I had a great helper, though.  Danny also found a nice way to strip the paint with heat!  It was a game changer.

We worked on this thing for many weekends, just chipping and sanding away.  And it was HOT outside while we did it.

In the end, I'm really happy with the color and how the bench turned out!

Toward the end of July, Colin and I decided to stop by the car show in the Kroger parking lot to kill some time waiting for his appointment at the music shop.  He was thrilled when a guy offered him a chance to sit in the Lamborghini!

He got to try playing a saxophone to make sure that's the instrument he wanted to play in the band during the upcoming school year.  It was so cute to watch him.

We also had the Riley's over for some pool fun.  Colin was back at it with his mixology skills (the adults had margaritas).
