14U Softball

Every season, it seems Cadence's softball team goes through the same struggles -- some girls leave in search of a new team, tryouts create some new players, the girls take a while to find their mojo, they make some tweaks, and they end up having a pretty decent season.  I think majority of the girls that are left in Big Walnut's travel program are playing because they simply love the sport and have fun playing softball.  I'm okay with that, seeing that they share the same mindset as Cadence.

The girls went 7-26 last season, so it was a little rough, but they handled each game with grace.  I saw improvements individually, and as a whole, and that's all you can really ask for with a group of girls who have never played together as a team.

Charlie, one of Cadence's teammate's brother, took some nice shots of the team one evening.  Check 'em out!  Oh, and he was only 10 years old!

Cadence really excelled in the outfield this season.  She actually preferred to play out there, and wasn't stressing over playing 1st base.  I think she had a better understanding of the importance of the outfield players and honed in on her skills.  It's awesome to watch her follow those pop flies and catch them!

They lost their final game of the season, which happened to be during the Mannino's tournament, by only 1 run, 16-17.  They played their hearts out!  It was a lot of fun to watch them play.

Unfortunately, their team is going to look a little different in 2025.  I'm eager to see what they've got in store for us!
