The 10u travel basketball season has been quite the learning experience for Colin. He did not make the team that majority of last season's teammates are on. Colin was disappointed at first. He would miss his friends. His ego took a bit of a hit. He was also worried about playing with boys who didn't have any experience on a travel team. He knew it would be a bit of a struggle. We explained to him that this switch would be a good thing. Coach Jim is an awesome coach and would be the head coach. Colin would have the opportunity to step up and be a leader. He would have more time on the court. The team has seen more Ls on the schedule than Ws, but the the boys have been fun to watch. Colin is really learning and excelling on the court. We've struggled with his attitude from time-to-time, but he's slowly showing improvement. When things don't go his way, or his team is down, it takes him a while to shake the negativity. He also can't mask how he's feeling and it's a discouragement to his teammates. We've had lots of talks with Colin after games and practices (mainly Coach Danny), and we're getting there. I'm proud of #21 so far, and look forward to what the next couple of months bring.
Here are some shots from the preview tournament at the beginning of the season.
Someone tied to the league has season suite tickets to the men's Ohio State basketball games - they allowed the team to attend one of the games and the boys had a good time.
Here's a really good picture I got of Colin right before he made a shot during a game last month...
...check out that air!
