The title of this blog post came from an Italian quote that was on the wall in an Italian restaurant. Translated it means, "Eat Well, Live Well, Laugh Much, Love More." I Googled the quote while we were waiting for our dinner. I like it a lot.
As far as the "Eat Well" part is concerned, we did plenty of that at Lola & Giuseppe's Trattoria in Gahanna. I have followed this restaurant on Facebook for a while now. It is owned by an old co-worker (and mentor) of mine from Sysco. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life. After seeing some of the Facebook posts featuring what looked like delicious food, I decided I wanted us to make the effort to get out there to support him and his family's restaurant. Boy, it did not disappoint. We all shared each other's plates - everything, even the appetizers, was so good! We have already planned a trip back.
The kids have reached the home stretch at school. There are just a few more days left of this school year. I think we're all ready for an academic break! I know the kids will miss seeing their friends every day, but I know they'll make a lot of new friends and have plenty of fun at summer camp.
Here's a little of what they've been up to at school...
For the month of March, Cadence's artwork was on display in the school's office.
Her piece is in the middle with the sun/moon. It's so cool, I even had some jewelry made from it for my mom as a Mother's Day gift. The girl's got some serious talent!
School celebrated St. Patrick's Day a couple of days early since the actual holiday fell on the weekend this year. Colin decided to wear his basketball jersey to school since it is green. They did a fun graphing activity with Lucky Charms cereal.
The kids' school put together Eagle YOUniversity activities over the course of several months. They rotated through the activities in groups so that they could try/learn new things. Cadence had fun building a birdhouse with help from high school student volunteers.
Mom snapped a cute photo of Colin outside
Cadence participated in March Madness this year. She filled out a bracket (2 to be exact) and was excited to see where she stood compared to everyone else at my office. She didn't win, but it was awesome to see her be so competitive!
Danny's mom came to Columbus to spend some time with the kiddos and help us out during spring break. They had fun with her and did different activities each day. They went to the outlet mall, enjoyed eating lunch out, went to Star Lanes for some arcade games, and got spoiled rotten.
On Thursday before she headed home, we all went to the Franklin Park Conservatory to see the butterflies. We had fun, but I think this will be the last year we keep this tradition - they rushed through all of the exhibits with the attitude of, "been there, done that." So maybe we'll find something else fun to do next year!
My mom took the kids on the last day of spring break. Since they did so much running around earlier in the week, they decided to stay home and "chill."
Easter art!
Danny and I went to the Man of the Woods concert to see Justin Timberlake AGAIN. We had such a great time last May, that when I heard in late 2018 that he was coming back to Columbus in March, I hopped online the minute tickets went on sale. We got floor tickets again, so it was a bit like déjà vu, but I thought that this show was even better than the first! I could see him in concert every year!
Cadence has been pushing herself to do new things on the swing set - going across the monkey bars, hanging from the trapeze bar, etc. I taught her how to do a back flip off of the bar and she loves doing that now.
Sleepy heads...
The kids moved up in taekwondo rank in early April. They are now senior orange belts. It's amazing watching them perform in front of a bunch of fellow-students as well as adults every couple of months. They're so brave!
April also brings along the Ohio State spring football game. We skipped last year due to crummy weather - I was so glad the weather cooperated this year. Weather-wise, we couldn't have had anything better. The sun was warm, but the breeze was cool. We stayed until the 3rd quarter and then split for some Adriatico's pizza and a stroll around campus. It's seriously one of my favorite days of the year.
