Winter 2018

Is it really going to be spring in less than two weeks?  It blows my mind.  I'm sure we'll still be enjoying winter-type weather for a little while longer here in Ohio either way.  And we'll be springing ahead this weekend!  I think I'm the only person who gets excited about that.  I know we'll "lose" an hour of sleep, but I just love having extra daylight when I get home from work.  It feels like warmer weather is on its way!  I can't stand leaving work when it's almost dark - I feel like I should be in bed already!  Even though spring break will be here soon, I'll start the post with the end of winter/Christmas break!

My office was closed on New Year's Day as well as the day after (Tuesday), so when Danny went back to work after being home with the kids, I got a day!

Sending Daddy a "deuces, love" morning text

We made Scarlet's unofficial birthday January 2nd, so we celebrated her 11th birthday!  We found a dog cookie recipe and decided she would like those (come on, she likes ANYTHING and EVERYTHING).

Here's the birthday girl sunbathing

The kids required that Grandma and Poppa partake in the festivities.  Cadence serenaded her with Happy Birthday on her toy violin.  She loved her cookies!

The kids really love Scarlet

My parents save the comics from the Sunday paper for Cadence now.  My mom wanted me to send her a picture of Cadence reading them.

During a snow day in January, we took some pictures for our Valentine craft - every year I like to send something to the grandparents and great-grandparents.  Here are some outtakes!

And the finished product!  I think it turned out cute!  I got the idea on Pinterest...duh.

I can't remember why, but Cadence wanted to paint our faces.  Colin requested Batman.

Daddy couldn't be left out either

So my boss is like a magnet when it comes to SNES classic consoles - he sees them everywhere, even though they're always sold out when I look for them.  I was able to snag one when he gave me a head's up that Best Buy had some.  The kids (and adults alike) have had fun playing the games!

Cadence had fun with a friend before school started back up.

Colin's teachers usually send some pretty cute pictures throughout the day.

Cadence being crafty!  She cut out and sewed a bird that resembled a cardinal (even though I think she was going for a robin).

Our shed on a freezing cold day!

Cadence's school had STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) night at school - all of the kids dressed up as mad scientists that day!  So cute!

Both of the kids had a fun time - we started out making structures that could withstand an earthquake (shaking the table).

And made homemade lava lamps...

Played a little with Osmo...

And made some slime!

Here's Cadence's "Picasso" that was on display in the hallway at school.  I love it!

Cadence's school also celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing up as 100 year olds.  We made a trip to Party City for a cane and we found this funny set of glasses!

Here's our little, old lady ready for school. We used white spray in her hair, but you can't see it well!

Here's the little boy she's smitten with in class

February was full of birthday parties for our kiddos.  Colin had 2 in 1 day!  First was bowling/arcade at Star Lanes.

Next was the Bounce Club!

Cadence got to have fun as well!

Cadence rocked her Valentine's box this year.  I had errands to run in the morning, so when I came home she was already done.

She made Scarlet!

I was able to help out with Cadence's Valentine's party again this year.  I brought a game where the kids had to use a straw to move as many candy hearts as they could into a cup in 30 seconds.  I think they had fun!

Danny made the kids heart-shaped pancakes (with an arrow), with heart strawberries, and pink milk for breakfast on Valentine's Day.

Valentine ready!

The birthday party Cadence went to started out at Laser Kraze - she was a little nervous!

The kids had me cracking up at Kroger when they found these bags of Lays potato chips.

Danny sent me a picture of the kids when he stayed home with them on President's Day.  They enjoyed some time in the playroom and some lollipops!

We took the kids to COSI a couple of weekends ago.  Colin had a blast, but poor Cadence was in a funk.  I don't think she was feeling well.

The next day, Cadence let me do a makeover - make up and hair!  She's so stinkin' cute.

The grown-ups also went to a birthday party - we did an escape room in Grandview called, Breakout.  If we hadn't gotten clues, there's no way we would've gotten out.
