It's almost time for the Schuerman kids' birthdays, so now seemed like a good time for a blog post before the birthday craziness begins. The kids are going to be turning 7 and 4 -- unbelievable!
Toward the end of March/beginning of April, Colin wasn't feeling quite like himself. He wasn't really running a fever, but didn't have an appetite, and once in a while, would complain that his throat hurt. He was home from school for several days.
This was after breakfast on "Grandma Friday" -- he looks like he feels fine, right?!
About 5 days in, mom helped me realize I should bring him to the doctor just in case; he was still complaining that his throat was hurting -- but really only in the morning or at night. The quick strep test came back negative, so we went to the grocery store to buy popsicles and juice to help the lil' guy feel more comfortable. The next day, the pediatrician called me to let me know that the "legit" strep test came back positive. Poor buddy started feeling much better after we started antibiotics.
By the next "Grandma Friday" he was back to his good, ol' self!
Cadence gave one of her "besties" a best friend necklace at school. Her friend's mom sent me a pic that she took at pick up at the end of the day.
Mom took both of the kids to the zoo on Good Friday since Cadence didn't have school. They had a lot of fun!
Their caricature looks great hanging in the playroom!
Followed by their favorite -- a trip to McDonald's.
That Saturday was The Ohio State Football Spring Game. We met the Marinelli's on campus for some football and pizza like last year. The weather cooperated and it turned out to be a beautiful day. We all love being down on campus.
Look who we found sneaking around the stadium!
Colin only likes Brutus from afar...
That night, Mom and Dad came over to dye Easter eggs.
And Easter morning was exciting!
We also met the "Acobucci" family at a nearby golf club for Easter Brunch. Ha!
Colin was not a fan of the Easter Bunny so I took him outside. Are we seeing a trend here???
Mom snapped this cute pic of Cadence and Dad
Family photo opp under a tree because it started to rain!
The following weekend, we attended the highly anticipated Monster Jam downtown. Colin had been talking about going for at least 3 months. It definitely was loud, and a good time as well. The kids loved cheering on Grave Digger.
I caught Mom in the midst of voting for her favorite driver -- she and Dad got into it!
Goofing around -- showing Mamaw and Papaw that Colin is a fan of Mamaw's chicken and noodles, too!
Colin had a gallery hop at school. Colin liked showing me his art work.
He even created a self-portrait.
Another "Grandma Friday" pic!
Colin recently had his first dentist appointment. Danny met me at the office -- it was helpful because Colin was a little nervous about the whole thing once we got there. He did great, though, and cooperated for the hygienist and dentist. His favorite part was picking 2 prizes out of the treasure chest.
We ordered everything from Amazon to put up a zip line in the backyard. The kids absolutely LOVE it. I'm convinced they could ride it ALL DAY.
They've gotten to the point where they can get on and off all by themselves!
Colin's new breakfast spot with Grandma on Fridays is Bob Evans. He's learned he can have French fries with breakfast.
We celebrated Cadence's birthday at school early since she has a summer birthday. Mom, Colin, and I brought chocolate chip cookies from Costco (the best cookies ever) for Cadence's class. They were a big hit! Cadence and her friends enjoyed passing out leftover cookies to the school staff.
After school, we took a trip to the mall to stop by the Crocs store for the kids.
That weekend we stopped by Oakland Nursery to pick up some plants. They have a new addition at the nursery.
Colin's gift to me for Mother's Day (from pre-school). So sweet.
We made homemade instruments and Colin's class had a parade.
Mom got some cute pics of the kids.
