We started out 2017 with a date with the Marinellis. We always have fun with those guys.
Next, some of the Robertsons came to visit! It was great to see Uncle Mike, Auntie Dianne, Melissa and Michaela (and Melissa's baby bump!). We can't wait for Melissa to have baby Christie #2! We spent a lot of time hanging out. It was fun to see my kids as the "big" kids with Michaela. They did well sharing their toys!
My kids love their pups.
We went out for breakfast and I just had to take a pic of Cadence in her cute hat cutting her sausage. Ha!
We took Melissa to Easton -- we went to a book signing at Barnes & Noble and grabbed some lunch at Northstar. Danny and I listen to Common Man and T-Bone on 97.1 the Fan every day on our way home from work. The host, Common Man, was at the book signing since it was his wife that wrote the book! He's hilarious. I told Danny we need to be friends with him and his wife. 😉
Every Friday at school, Cadence's class has a Mystery Reader. I mentioned in the past that my mom was the Mystery Reader back in December. The class received a clue each day of the week leading up to Friday so that they could try to guess who the Mystery Reader would be. Cadence thought it was going to be Danny -- she was close! I read, Dragons Love Tacos -- only some of Cadence's classmates had read it before. Then we made dragons! I think the kids had a good time. I did!
Cadence's school had family STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) night (it was also PJ day at school, hence the PJs). They had some really neat activities set up for the kiddos! We did an ice cube experiment where Cadence was able to pick an ice cube out of a cup of water using a string and salt!
Making snowflakes. Colin had fun that night as well.
The same day that Cadence's school celebrated the 100th day of the school year, the party cart also made a stop in Cadence's room. Each month, the principal brings the party cart to each class to celebrate one student that has been nominated for demonstrating what it means to be an HSE Eaglet, leader, and all around good citizen. They get a bunch of goodies and receive special time outside of the class. January was Cadence's month!
Cadence went to a few birthday parties in February. One was at an indoor pool. She had a lot of fun swimming with her friends and classmates in the middle of winter!
Mom and Dad picked a Saturday night to let the kids sleep over. They made cookies and watched movies while Danny and I went out for dinner and did some shopping. They love sleepovers at Grandma and Poppa's house.
Valentine's Day picture to show they love each other.
I helped with the Valentine's Day party in Cadence's class. I found a cute Valentine's craft on Pinterest. Remember the fortune tellers we made in school when we were little? This was like that, but on the inside there were cute Valentine's Day jokes. I had to help the kids a bit more than I thought I would have to, but they did great.
What would a post be without some Grandma Friday pictures???
March 10th marked the end of an era -- no more pacifiers in the Schuerman household. Colin had bitten a hole in the last pacifier we had -- I refused to buy any more since he is almost 4 and only used it at night. We left his pacifier outside, in a bag, hanging from a tree branch for the Paci Fairy. It took him a little longer to fall asleep that night, but he did great overnight! In the morning, he found that the Paci Fairy left him some PJ Masks and Paw Patrol gifts. We're going on week four of no pacifier and Colin is still doing well. He gets out of bed a couple of times each night, but I think that will change as time passes. In the past, I think if he woke up, his pacifier would help him fall back to sleep. Now he gets up to see what is going on!
Goofing around with leftover Valentine stickers. Cadence put them all over his face.
Post-bath time fun
Lucky the Leprechaun came to visit us for St. Patrick's Day again! He came in through the back door this year and left a box of Lucky Charms for the kids.
Cadence hadn't gotten her hair cut since June of last year. It was getting so long and took forever to dry after a bath. It turned out a little shorter than we planned, but we all love it (including Cadence!)
Toward the end of March was Spring Break for Cadence -- Grandma worked from home on Monday and hung out with "Peanut"...
Poppa did the same on Tuesday... She was making something like MacGyver
My parents went to Vegas toward the end of the week, so Danny was home with the kids on Wednesday. They had a lot of fun at the arcade at Star Lanes...
and grabbed some lunch at Costco while doing some shopping. Colin can easily put away an entire piece of Costco pizza.
I stayed home with the little squirts on Thursday and Friday. They slept in on Thursday, so we sent Danny a "good morning" picture during breakfast.
I surprised them and took them to the Franklin Park Conservatory since the butterflies were back! We love spending time there!
They had a cute, little Fairy Garden exhibit this year
Colin making his sister laugh at Panera for lunch
The kids are getting pretty good at Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart on my old DS!
On Friday we did some grocery shopping and then hung out outside all afternoon. We started with a picnic lunch. I may or may not have bribed them with some chips and cookies so they would be good at Kroger...
Pretend picking her nose
Hammock selfie!
