I CANNOT believe it is almost August! This summer is flying by! We ended spring with the kids' birthday craziness and school ending and coasted right into summer. I'll try my best to fill you in on our lives over the past couple of months!
I was able to leave work early on Colin's 3rd birthday. My kids LOVE chocolate chip cookies (you'll notice a trend throughout this post) and are huge fans of Costco's chocolate chip cookies (who isn't???). I brought some into Colin's class to share with his buddies. They all loved them, too! It was funny -- Colin was ready to go home when I showed up; I brought out the cookies and all was right with the world.
Colin LOVES to pick Cadence up from school, so that's where we headed next! We hung out with "sissy" and the big kids at the after school program for a bit. All of Cadence's friends got a kick out of Colin.
He could play at the elementary school's playground ALL day. We hung around for a little bit!
We had some cookies leftover, so Mom and Dad came over for dinner and we had grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and cookies! A kid's dream!
The last day of school was the same week -- Danny and I were able to skip out of work early and we attended the end of the year picnic lunch. It was beautiful weather outside and Cadence had a good time with her friends. I can't believe she's going into first grade soon!
We're going to miss Mrs. Mignogno (pronounced min-yon -- yup, you guessed it, there was a minion theme last year). She is an awesome teacher!
Right around the corner from Colin's birthday was Cadence's 6th birthday! We spent the morning shopping so the kids could spend some of their birthday money, and took Cadence out for lunch.
She got Oreos instead of cake that night -- my kids are so funny about cake! Neither one of them care for any type of cake. If we're lucky, Colin will eat icing, but that's about it!
In between the kids' actual birthdays, we had a party for both of the kids at our house with close friends and family. Colin's such a good helper!
He even helped make their own birthday cookie cakes!
Cadence had a Shopkins theme
Colin had a Cars theme
We love our cousins!!
The bounce house was fun -- even for the adults! Boy, was it hot and steamy in there, though!
Colin eventually warmed-up to the idea of the bounce house. Danny was a trooper and bounced while holding him for a little while!
It was really hot that day, so the kids cooled of in the pool
Present time!
They opened their gifts so quickly -- between the two of them, it was very difficult to keep up!
Pin the teeth on Mater!
Water balloon fight! This year we got the nifty water balloons that you easily fill up with the hose. Way better than last year where my dad spent an hour filling them up!
Ta-da! Cookie cakes!
We wanted Cadence to be able to have a party with her friends from school, so we decided on Sweet and Sassy. All of the girls had a great time! The staff was really great with the girls and did an awesome job.
They started out with hair and wardrobe...
and then nails...
and finished with makeup!
Different colors on each eyelid, because why not???
So sweet!
The girls took turns walking the runway and striking a pose. It was adorable!
Group photo op! It was a really fun time and Cadence enjoyed seeing all of her friends!
I had the kids pose in their new PJs -- they're so stinking cute. Cadence takes posing to another level.
I talked Cadence into a shorter 'do for the summer. After she got a ton of length off, I wish we had done it sooner! It looks so cute and so much healthier. We went back to Sweet and Sassy for the cut. They really make the girls feel special there!
Goofing around with Daddy!
We picked the kids up from school on a Thursday (that way they could sleep in on "Grandma Friday" -- ha, sleep in...right) to surprise them with the movie, "Finding Dory." They had a great time! It was Colin's first theater experience and did really well! It was a cute movie, but I still prefer "Finding Nemo"!
Mom and Dad's church, St. John Neumann, had their annual festival at the end of June. We met the Marinellis and Mom and Dad there and had a lot of fun! There was great food, kids activities and games, and rides!
Fun on the playground
Colin was a pro!
A young girl (probably a parishioner) was face-painting for the kids -- Cadence's turned out cute...
Colin's was supposed to be the Batman silhouette. We had to try really hard not to laugh! It ended up more of a blob.
He didn't care, though -- look at that sweet grin!
Here's a collection of the latest "Grandma Friday" pics!
We love the Genoa Township fire station! They treat the kids so well when we stop by! It's a necessity to stop if you're taking Colin to McNamara park which is nearby.
Mom took Colin to Touch-A-Truck. She said he had a lot of fun -- she was able to sneak this quick pic while running from truck to truck!
