Summer Time and 4th of July

Wow, it has been one soggy summer so far!  It seems like all it does is rain lately.  I feel like the weekly trend has been rain, rain, rain, sunny, rain, rain, cloudy.  Sometimes we're lucky and it rains during the week and it's nice on the weekends while we're home.  That was the case last weekend.  We had some friends over and we were able to swim and hang out outside for most of the day.  It was a lot of fun!  I'm ready for some hot, dry weather though!  Our poor pool must feel so abandoned.  Ha.  Anywho, here's a little update on our summer thus far!

Here's little "Cutie-Pants McGee".  She gets her hair cut about 2-3 times a year.  Her hair is getting thicker as she gets older, so we might start going to get it cut more often!  The last time I went to the salon, I took Cadence with me to get her hair cut.  Erin, who has been cutting my hair since about 2003, Cut Cadence's hair that day.  Cadence thought she was so cool at the grown up salon!  She was such a chatterbox and a very good girl!

All done!

Mom got a cute pic of Colin on a "Grandma Friday"

This picture is a little old, but I found it and had to share.  The day my mom stayed home with Colin when he was sick, he wanted to hold her hand while he watched TV.  So sweet.

Uncle Mike let the kids color his "cast" before he had surgery.  They had a good time!

I saw something posted online about creating your own 4th of July window stickies by using puff paint and plastic baggies.  Boy did the kids have fun!  They turned out well!  Cadence tried to make stars and fireworks while Colin just liked to squeeze out the paint!

Just chilling on Grandma and Poppa's porch floor...

Cadence and I ran errands and drove by our old house a couple of weeks ago.  It looked good!  The ash tree that my dad and Danny saved from the Emerald Ash Borer looked big and healthy!  The magnolia was gigantic and the new owners have added a little railing to the front stoop.

I had to take a pic to show Mamaw and Papaw Cadence in one of her birthday outfits.

Here are the kiddos before we left to go to the 4th of July parade in Sunbury.  They didn't really want to cooperate, but I got a picture nonetheless.  Look at the cute shirt Cadence made at school!

Colin sat on my mom's lap pretty much the entire time we were at the parade.  He just sat there and waved his little American flag.  He was such a good boy.  He loved the tractors and horses that came through!

Cadence got a ton of candy!  I reminded her to stand up, wave, and "look cute" to get candy thrown her way.

We all got a kick out of this "float".

After the parade we went down to the square -- they have antique booths set up, free hot dogs, horse riding, etc.  Both of my kids wanted to try riding a horse.  I was amazed!  Cadence did an awesome job.  Colin was a little freaked out when the horse started to walk, but they both had fun!

Sparkler and snaps time while waiting for the fireworks!  They were a big hit with the kids!  I think Colin is still a little young to go to a fireworks show, so we stayed at home and watched some from afar.

The kids and I went for a walk the next day and we saw some horses on the way.  They were so pretty!

Both of the kids enjoy playing on the iPad.  Here they are doing a good job sharing!  So sweet.
