A couple of weeks into spring seems like the perfect time for a winter post, right? Better late than never, I guess! We had a decent amount of snow this winter -- it seemed like it would snow early in the week, stay freezing all week, and the snow would still be around for the weekend. Cadence was able to play in the snow a few times. As the weeks went by, Cadence became more of a dare devil when it came to sledding. She had fun building a snowman too. All of the snow gear was too much for Colin. He doesn't like hats, refuses to wear gloves, and was unsure about his boots. That's not a good mix when the temperature is freezing!
Here's the one picture of Colin I got in the snow. Poor thing -- he wanted to play in the snow so badly, but he just doesn't understand what all is involved!
Scarlet loves the snow. She even tries to catch snowballs!
We have pretty wimpy hills in our yard...what do you expect, that's Ohio for ya! We ended up pulling or pushing Cadence around on the sled. It's quite a work out!
Here's a pretty picture of the creek down the street. Looks freezing cold, doesn't it?!
So, there's a property down the street that has turkeys. Another house has adopted them because they hang out there a lot. I guess they got bored and stopped by our house one day when my mom and the kids were home. They fed the things and now they make a daily trip to the Schuerman house! Like, seriously, they come right up to our windows and look for us!
My mom usually gets some pretty cute pictures of the kids on "Grandma Fridays."
I was able to go to Cadence's Valentine's party at school. They had some yummy treats (Yeah -- see that chocolate dipped Oreo with sprinkles? She wanted nothing to do with it...it was delicious!) and played some cute games. She loved the Valentine's cards she received and they even had a Valentine's box contest!
Danny and the kids made a cute Valentine's cookie cake for me while I was out getting my hair cut. It was yummy!
We took Cadence to the Disney On Ice show. This year it was Worlds of Fantasy. It included Cars, The Little Mermaid, Tinker Bell, and Toy Story. She had fun having a special day with us (we felt 2 hours sitting still for Colin was still not a good idea).
Super stoked about lunch at McDonald's after the show! Danny and I stopped by Tom + Chee instead!
Look how sweet! He's going to make a great husband some day :) I've trained him well.
Mega Icicle
Mom and Dad have received all of their appliances for their house. We got the construction crew to save one of the boxes for the kiddos. They had fun making a "house"!
Proud of her Lego dino
We ordered a new rug online; the kids had fun inspecting it.
Colin loves his train
St. Patrick's Day
The best cookie on Earth
Don't expect Colin to share
Cadence was invited to a classmate's 5th birthday party at the local ice rink. We weren't too sure if Cadence would be brave and try it. At first I didn't think she would; then I thought she might if she saw her friends skating. OMG -- you should've seen this kid when I tried to take her out on the ice! She turned bright red and started bawling because she was so scared. So, needless to say, we ended up watching all of her friends skate instead. She didn't even want to try the training/walker thing to keep her from falling. She was terrified of possibly falling. Everyone tried to get her to skate -- I mean, EVERYONE -- me, her friends, the parents of her friends. This girl wouldn't budge. I admire that she stuck to her decision, but I wish she tried new things more often! Maybe next time!
