If you're reading this blog post, you have probably already heard that we're expecting! Baby Schuerman #2 is due May 29, 2013. We are really excited! And just like with Cadence, we will wait until the big day to find out if it's a boy or a girl. We can't wait to see how Cadence does as a big sister. We think she'll do a great job. Although we think she could become jealous from time to time. We'll see! And by the way, Cadence says the baby is a boy and she is going to have a brother. The answer is the same EVERY time!
Today marks the start of my 15th week of pregnancy. I've been really lucky and haven't had any crazy pregnancy symptoms this time around either! Every once in a while I'll get a pain in my abdomen or a tightness or a pulling sensation, but the doc says that's all normal. This pregnancy is so similar to my first, that it's a little scary! I'm even craving salty snack foods instead of sweets just like with Cadence! It's crazy how much quicker you "feel" pregnant the second time around. I look back at pictures of when I was pregnant with Cadence, and I think I look like my 20 week pictures already!
We were able to keep the pregnancy a secret until my 9th week. We knew we had to surprise my parents again since it was so fun last time. Every October we head to the Circleville Pumpkin Show. Since we typically get there before the show technically opens, our first stop is Lindsey's Bakery to get some freshly baked pumpkin doughnuts. Danny had the idea to special order a dozen and have something written inside the box. I called and spoke with one of the bakers weeks before the show. I wasn't quite sure what they'd do, but this is what they came up with:
It was so cute! It was even better when all the bakery employees were pressed up to the windows and doors to see my parents' reaction. My parents couldn't read the note on the doughnuts at first, but they eventually got it. It was a great experience. Even Mike gave us a high 5.
Here's Danny trying to win Cadence a Dora the Explorer toy...it was a lot easier than it looked.
It was cold and drizzly that day, but we still had a good time!
Cadence found a Nemo pumpkin!
I think we'll use this one as blackmail one day ;)
A friend at work got us passes to the zoo for my birthday, so we took Cadence to Boo at the Zoo. I didn't want her to ruin her Halloween costume, so we let her wear her new elephant hat/mittens instead. She is OBSESSED with elephants!
Checking out some fish in the aquarium.
We got a warm spell so we went outside to play!
I think Cadence spent a total of 3 minutes helping us with the pumpkins. Like a little diva, she told us "I already did it." Apparently they carved a pumpkin at school and it wasn't as fun to her the second time around. Stinker!
We all participated in the Stefanie Spielman's Step Up to Cancer walk/run this year. It was FREEZING outside! Knowing it was for a good cause made the cold weather a little more bearable!
Halloween was a lot of fun this year too. Cadence braved the elements all for some candy...that's my girl! She and Scarlet were adorable and made a great Little Red Riding Hood and wolf!
I felt it was OK to spread the word on facebook once I hit the 12 week mark. We were able to get Cadence involved. She did a great job!
Here's the new baby at 9 weeks, 1 day. We were amazed at all we could see so early in the pregnancy! It was really awesome. The doctor said that one of her patients referred to her baby as a gummy bear at this stage...I think that's exactly what the baby looks like. So cute! I still need to scan more pictures; I have a couple where you can even make out the fingers and toes!
I got this idea from Pinterest (I'm not that creative!)
Here is Cadence's first homework assignment. School wanted to encourage family time around Thanksgiving. It was really cute. We got creative and decorated our Schuerman Family Turkey! I think it turned out pretty! We used feathers, beans and leaves.
We had a really good time this year for Thanksgiving. We stayed in town and spent a lot of time with my family. My dad's parents came to visit for the first time since our wedding. It was great to see them and Cadence had a blast with Grandpa Ray, Grandma Alice, and their dog, Willie. We ate a ton of good food, put up the Christmas lights outside, and enjoyed the nice weather outside.
Last week we went to my 14 week appointment. We couldn't wait to hear the baby's heartbeat. It's tough at this stage because the baby is so small that I can't feel the baby's movements. The heartbeat is the only way to let me know that everything is going OK. My doctor does a great job explaining things and letting you know what to expect. Before she put the wand on my belly, she told me that I shouldn't worry if I don't hear the heartbeat right away. I was hoping it would be like Cadence and we would hear it right away. She put the wand on my belly and we didn't hear anything. After what seemed like an eternity, she found the baby's heartbeat. Whew, it was such a relief. There was even a few times where we could tell the baby was moving. The baby's heartbeat was 155 beats per minute. It's about what Cadence's heartbeat was at the same time period. I can't wait until December 27 for my next appointment!
We have also ordered and received Cadence's new furniture. She doesn't seem too interested in moving into her big girl bed, but I hope once we get it all set up she'll have a change of heart. We'd like to get her used to her new room long before the new baby takes over her current room!
The holiday season is here...we're working on getting Cadence used to Santa. She loves him from afar, but does not want to sit on his lap! She really likes all of the Christmas decorations and music. We went to her daycare Christmas program last night. It was ADORABLE! More posts to follow...

You forgot to mention Cousin day, my girls are still talking about all the fun they had!!! The things they talk about the most are baking cookies and Gracie showing Cadence how to brush her teeth and get a drink to rinse.
