Danny was due to go back to Seattle for work in August, so we made it a family trip and joined him before the kids had to go back to school! Check out all the fun we had!
Colin captured a pretty sunset -- we flew out of Columbus after work on Friday.
On Saturday morning, we started the day at Pike Place Market.
Danny had told us about the fresh flowers, but nothing can prepare you for all the pretty flowers. They're amazing -- and smell good, too!
We grabbed breakfast at Honest Biscuits and took in the sights!
The original store.
The gum wall was so disgusting.
That afternoon we went to the Mariners game. They lost against the Rangers...
...but we got souvenir Aloha shirts!
That night we went to the Space Needle. While we were in line, we saw a neat LEGO replica.
Cadence did not want to get close to the glass, so she served as photographer.
The 360 views were beautiful.
See-through floors!
After breakfast we headed back to the gum wall to make a contribution!
...and checked out the shops
Next up, was a nice hike with pretty views!
We could see Mt. Rainier really well!
Mt. Rainier National Park
That night we went to our AirBnb at Spanaway Lake. We had our own dock!
The next day while Danny was at work, we took the kayaks out for a spin!
The next day we had lunch with a view and went back out on the lake
This time we all tried out the paddleboards
It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun!
On our way to dinner, we spotted a bald eagle!
We enjoyed dinner at the Lobster Shop right on the water.
She loved that the bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The next day we took the ferry from Mukileo to Langley.
We grabbed lunch at a cafe and did some hiking around Oak Harbor.
We checked out Deception Pass Bridge.
And hiked around the state park.
That night we drove to Bellingham where we stayed at the Semiahmoo Resort. They had some good restaurants. Check out the sunset we saw while at dinner!
The next day we met up with Danny's old boss, Neale, and his wife, Jackie, at Birch Bay. We walked around the water and rode around on their golf course. We had a delicious lunch and ordered in pizza for dinner. We had a great visit!
Jackie made sun catchers with the kids!
The next day we made our way to Canada -- Vancouver to be exact!
First stop was the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
The walkways between the trees were awesome!
It felt like giant tree houses!
We did some hiking around Lighthouse Park, and then headed to Squamish.
We had fun on the Sea to Sky Gondola.
We did some hiking while at the top!
Next up...Whistler!
The next day we checked out the Olympic Plaza from the 2010 Olympics.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was one of the lookouts where we stopped on our way back to the states -- the Cheakamus River in Brackendale.
We had so much fun exploring the Pacific Northwest! August was the perfect time to visit!
