Cadence is a sucker for a good sunset (I mean, look at that sky!). She even has a timer on her phone to remind herself to check out the sky every night. I chuckle, though, as the seasons begin to change and the timer hasn't been adjusted, and her phone goes off when it's already dark! I snapped a photo of her as she hopped the fence to get a better view.
Cadence's team's last 14u softball games were vs. Delaware at Delaware on July 8th. Thankfully, they played two games. They lost the first game, 2-7. But they rallied (as they often did this season), and pulled off a W for the second game, with a final score of 10-6.
Cadence got to play 1st base and outfield.
and got on base!
Safe!
Going into this game, Cadence had shared that she probably wasn't going to tryout for the 16u team (and we didn't even know what the future of the team looked like at that time). We weighed out the pros and cons and Cadence realized that she would rather work and have time to study next spring/summer. I can't say I blame her. I think she had fun playing, but wasn't super close with any of her teammates and didn't love the sport enough to want to dedicate several nights a week to softball. It was bittersweet watching her play her last game. For the little girl who we never thought would play sports (she was always more into arts/music when she was younger), it was fun watching her grow and learn a new sport over the last several years. I'm excited to see what she becomes involved with next!
