April and May Happenings

Between traveling to Rhode Island for my grandma's funeral and Colin's broken arm, the past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind!  Let's get caught up on the past couple of months, shall we?

Colin was very proud of the stars he received in school - one for working as a team and one for cleaning up a mess that wasn't his :)

Colin had a blast at his buddy's 5th birthday party - so much fun, we'll be celebrating his own 5th birthday at Recreations Outlet as well!

Gracie stayed with us over the weekend and the kids had a great time - they played on the swing set, made a fort, rode their Jeeps, and watched movies.

We found a lot of pine cones on our walk and decided to make some bird feeders with peanut butter and bird seeds!  Cadence had made one in her after school program; it was such a hit with the birds, we decided to make more.  The birds loved them!

School sends some pretty good pictures...

Ninja pose!

We attended Cadence's school's annual spaghetti dinner, art show, and book sale - check out
Mona Lisa and Frida Kahlo

Cadence learned about fossils in school and dug for "fossil" chocolate chips in a cookie!

The second graders wrote letters about police officers in thanks for keeping us safe.  The high school student council read over them and picked out their favorites.  In turn, Cadence was invited to the Law Enforcement Appreciation Night at the high school.  It was a great way to celebrate those who protect and serve our community.

Students' art work from around district was on display - some were so impressive!

The kiddos did a great job in front of so many people!

Mom got some cute pictures of the kids

While in Rhode Island for my grandma's funeral, my cousins put together a sweet video made up of pictures from my grandma's life.  Using the printed photos, my mom and aunt made some collages to display in the funeral home as well.  It was nice to go through all of the old pictures and hear the stories from my family.  My grandma was so loved...she is so missed.

Check out this awesome picture of my mom and her sisters and my grandma.  My mom's in the pink outfit with the top bun - Danny thought she looked like a Kardashian!!

Cousin time!

Danny and the kids picked me up from the airport when I got home.  We hit up Easton for dinner and walked around a little.  We love it there!

Saturday, May 5th was just a horrible day.  After lunch, we finally started to put the trampoline together that we bought as a gift for both of the kids' birthdays.  The kids helped bring all of the pieces from the boxes in the garage to the back yard.  We got all of the metal pieces together and had the kids go play somewhere else once it got time to attach the mat.  We added all of the springs and got to the point where we were going to add the safety net when Colin started screaming.  He was on the ground under the monkey bars crying and grabbing his arm.  You could just tell by looking at this arm that it was probably broken.  I did not keep my cool and was panicking.  Mom helped us get into the car while Dad grabbed a bag of ice and Cadence thought to grab Colin's blanket.  I'm glad my mom got some Ibuprofen for us, because I think that helped him a lot.  Danny drove really quickly to Nationwide Children's Close to Home in Westerville so we could see a doctor.  Colin had calmed down but was still crying a little.  He did a great job when it was time for the x-rays.  The doctor let us know that he broke both bones in his arm.  Luckily the ER wasn't busy and they were able to set his arm and get a cast on him later in the day.  It was a VERY long day, but Colin could not have done better.  He was so brave and hardly complained about the pain at all.  He wanted a black cast (I think partly because when the doctor listed the colors, pink was the second option).  The part he disliked the most was when they had to put an IV port in his little hand to be able to sedate him.  We're going on week 3 with the full arm cast and he will be able to get a WATERPROOF short arm cast the day after his birthday!

Until Colin was cleared by the pediatric orthopedist, only Cadence was allowed to jump on the trampoline.  Colin has been jumping some and both of the kids love it!

The Monday after Colin broke his arm, we went to the Justin Timberlake concert.  It was AWESOME!  We had general admission floor tickets and I'm so glad we went that route instead of seats.  We grabbed a spot close to the main stage and the stage that wound across the floor.

Oh, hey, JT!

I got to meet Kelsey Webb from WNCI's Morning Zoo!  I listen EVERY morning on the way to work!
