Labor Day and Highbanks Park

September was a lot of fun.  We started out the month with a trip to Hamilton/Cincinnati for Labor Day.  We visited Danny's family and went downtown for the WEBN Fireworks.  It's become a great tradition!

Vince told the guys who took our group photo to flip the phone on themselves and take a pic!

The kids love anything that glows.  Mamaw and Papaw made sure the kiddos were happy!

I think Colin left his headphones on the for the entire fireworks show.

Cadence was able to hold out until the grand finale.

Danny and I are really impressed with how much Colin has grown, both in his behavior and academically, since starting pre-K.  He's really into counting things and finding out what letters words begin with.  He'll say things like, "black and white make gray" or "hot and cold make warm" -- it's just neat seeing those wheels turning.  His writing and drawing skills have improved as well!

They keep the kids busy and do a lot of fine motor skills activities.

Such a lil' stud with his new haircut.

They spent a week learning about apples.  They made applesauce in class.

Mom has a newer version of the iPhone than I do and got some pretty cute pics of the kid in portrait mode.

We went to Landen's 5th birthday party which had a pirate theme.  The kids had a blast!  I loved the masks they wore during their treasure hunt!

We ended the month with a trip to Highbanks Park.  We hadn't been as a family since Cadence was a baby.  Colin had never been!  The weather was beautiful and a little cooler in the shade of the trees.  I think we hiked a little far for the kids, but it was nice to be outside.  We hiked to the lookout, but didn't see any bald eagles.  We saw some deer, though!  We had a picnic lunch and played on the playground before heading home.

We found a decorated rock hiding in the woods for Northeast Ohio Rocks and did our part by re-hiding it.
