I can't believe we have a 5 year old and a 2 year old now. Cadence will be going to kindergarten in August and she's already lost her first tooth. She loves music and can be very dramatic. Blake is still her "boyfriend" and if it was up to her, she'd wear a long dress every day of the week. Her favorite TV show is Odd Squad and she carries around her Elsa/Anna doll everywhere. Oh, and she is a fruit snack-a-holic! Colin is talking a lot more and only uses his pacifier when he sleeps. Somehow he takes a nap at school without his pacifier -- I don't have the heart to take it away from him yet. He's getting his 2 year molars and hasn't had the best appetite lately. He likes music just as much as his sister does and has a really cute signature dance move. He loves his "blankie", but isn't partial to a particular one. He is obsessed with trucks and cars and could watch "Mighty Machines" on Netflix over and over again. If you ask him what he wants to eat, he says, "Um...cheese!" He could survive on cheese alone. Colin has been our fish this year even though we haven't been in the pool much. So far this summer has been awfully rainy!
Here's Cadence the morning after the Tooth Fairy came. She brought her $5 for her first tooth and a tiny letter!
Photobomb!
Cadence is not a fan of cake or cupcakes, so for her birthday treat at school, I made confetti dip to go along with animal crackers. It went over well with the kiddos! All of the kids sang Happy Birthday to her -- it was really cute.
The birthday girl at school. Her teacher from when she was 18 months old remembered it was her birthday and gave her a princess wand. It was so sweet of her to remember!
Cadence's silly friends, Kendall and McKenna
After her birthday snack it was "center" time
The hose is Colin's new favorite toy. He waters the flowers...and the walkway...and the windows...
Here's the birthday girl the morning of her actual birthday!
We celebrated that night with Cadence's pick for dinner: peanut butter sandwiches and cheesy Pringles! The adults made their sandwiches a little more sophisticated and added jelly and grilled them! It was delish. Dessert was chocolate cookies. She said she covered her mouth so she wouldn't accidentally blow out the candles.
Tiara or mask or sunglasses?
I took the day off from work the day before the kids' birthday party to run some errands. Cadence was my shopping buddy. She was psyched to grab lunch at Chick-fil-a.
We had a lot of fun at the kids' birthday party. Since their birthdays are only 13 days apart, we decided it would be best for everyone if we had one big party this year. I hired a face painter/balloon "sculpter" that we met at our friend's birthday party. She was great! She is so talented and funny too!
Cadence requested an Elsa balloon
Colin got a motorcycle!
Colin took a nap while Cadence's friends were at the party. It worked out well that we could have fun with Cadence's friends and then we could focus on Colin when he woke up!
Unicorn face paint
"Blakey" showed up after his t-ball game. Cadence was ecstatic. He has been staying home for the summer and she has missed him so much.
After lunch we had a water balloon fight. It was a big hit. My dad spent forever filling up the water balloons that were demolished in less than a minute!
Cadence requested bobbing for apples (yeah, we know it's not Fall yet). She has a wiggly tooth so she did not want to participate!
Sack racing!
Cookie cake for Cadence
It was really hot and humid that day, so after Cadence's friends left, the cousins, Danny and Colin hit the pool!
"Dirt" cake for Colin
He was more interested in the trucks than he was of eating the cake.
Here's to another great year!
